Description
sig sauer sp2022
SIG Sauer’s SP2022 was its first polymer frame pistol and part of the SIG Pro line (hence the “SP” prefix). This semi-auto is currently produced in 9 mm and .40 S&W, but in the past it’s also had .357 SIG versions.
The gun has a 1.4” width, 5.7” overall height and 7.4” overall length. These dimensions contain the gun’s 3.8” long 6-groove barrel. The 9 mm has a 1 to 10” twist, the .40 S&W a 1 to 15” twist and the .357 SIG a 1 to 16” twist.
The standard curved trigger has a single-action trigger pull is 4.5 pounds; this jumps to 10.0 pounds for double-action.
The slide is stainless steel with a Nitron finish. Nitron is SIG’s name for its black PVD finish. PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. It looks great and makes any gun corrosion resistant and more durable.
SP2022 features steel 3-dot contrast sights dovetailed into the slide with a 5.9” sight radius in between.
The slide serrations and several other styling lines or accent lines are parallel to the grip, making for great aesthetics.
ABOUT sig sauer sp2022
Additionally, for your safety and well-being as well as that of others, the SP2022s have safety features such as a loaded-chamber indicator atop the slide.
This SIG has a four-slot Picatinny rail under the recoil spring housing. The trigger guard has a nearly vertical front face with a finger rest. The guard’s underside is a gentle curve that almost echoes that of the trigger itself. It ends with an undercut. Nearby, the magazine catch is reversible.
It’s straight in front but has a gentle palmswell in back.
The SP2022 uses double-stack architecture. This permits impressive capacity. The 9 mm guns can be had with either a pair of 15-round or 10-round magazines while the .40 S&W’s options are two 12-round or two 10-round magazines. A nice thing about these magazines is they have counting holes. The weight with an empty magazine is 29.0 ounces for the 9 mm, 29.2 for the .357 and 29.6 for the .40 S&W.
